Worship

The first religious service was held in San Salvador on January 25, 1891, by a Catholic priest named Father Chrysostom Schreiner. After being saved from a shipwreck, he vowed to devote his life to the people of the island. That kind of faith is still reflected today in the number of churches that exist on this tiny island. There are seven churches serving about 1,300 persons: three Baptist, one Anglican, Church of God, Roman Catholic and Seventh Day Adventist.
